Montana's individual income tax is a progressive income tax, similar to the federal personal income tax. This is based on the net income of resident and non-resident individuals, fiduciaries and beneficiaries of estates and trusts. Residents of Montana are taxed on income from all sources, regardless of where earned. Non-residents are taxed on income earned from any Montana source.
